Board Reappointments of Su Lee and Annie Ho Ting to Advance Community Literacy Program through the Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award

Bring Me A Book Hong Kong (BMABHK) is delighted to announce the return of Su Lee and Annie Ho Ting to its Board as the charity prepares to celebrate its 20th Anniversary milestone. Their reappointment highlights the charity’s deepened commitment to promoting original Chinese children’s picture books through its flagship initiative, the Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award (the Award).

As the charity’s founder and former Board Chair respectively, Su Lee and Annie Ho Ting have been integral to the charity’s journey. For nearly two decades, they both have served as dedicated sub-committee members of the Award, a cornerstone of the charity’s mission.

The charity’s upcoming transition reflects the Award’s growing global influence. Established in 2008, the Award was the first international prize of its kind and has since grown into the most prestigious recognition for Chinese children’s picture books. To date, 22 of the Award’s 52 winning titles have been licensed for publication across 12 countries and regions—a testament to the universal appeal of Chinese storytelling.

Through the Award, the charity will expand the reach and influence of Chinese children’s picture books across Greater China and beyond with the launch of a new community program featuring:

  • A curated bookshelf containing all 52 winning titles of the Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award, with more to come as the Award progresses.
  • An innovative picture book curriculum, a pedagogical framework designed to empower educators in fostering children’s discovery and appreciation of high-quality original Chinese children’s picture books.
  • Teachers’ workshop series, offering guided activities, discussion prompts, and creative extension exercises to enrich the reading experience.

These initiatives will carry forward the charity’s mission to continue empowering communities with meaningful reading experiences, creating opportunities for connection, reflection, and joyful learning—both in classrooms and at home.

For BMABHK’s final READCONNECT Community Day on Saturday, 7 March 2026 in the Taipo district of Hong Kong, a team of Community Storytelling Ambassadors will lead invited families through an interactive day of storytelling and creative activities, featuring three Award-winning titles specially selected for the community. This marks a new chapter for the charity, integrating 20 years of community outreach with newly curated content and educational resources. Through the Award, the charity continues its mission, while inspiring a lasting appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.
