Simon Barnes, eleven years old, aspires to be a world-famous rapper known as Notorious D.O.G. But for now, he’s just a fifth-grader in Chicago who’s undersized for his age and hesitant to speak up. Even though he’s always spouting rhymes in his head, Simon tries to keep a low profile at school and home. Simon must confront his worries when his new instructor instructs the students to give an oral presentation on a topic that affects their community. Will Simon get the confidence to rap his way to an A and prove that one youngster can make a difference in his ‘hood with the support of an unlikely ally and his neighborhood crew?
