Description
Berta aspires to be an artist, but she has little hope as a young girl growing up in a rural Swedish farming village in the 1920s. She seeks refuge in nature, as well as drawing and sculpting clay birds for her mother, who appears to be the only one who fully understands her. Berta feels alone, in despair, and even more burdened by all the work on the farm when her mother succumbs to disease. Can she summon the bravery to fly free, defying her father and the social conventions of the time?
