Strega Nona

In dePaola’s award-winning book based on the classic tale: ‘the magic porridge pot’, Strega Nona, or ‘Grandma Witch’, is a nice old lady who cures the townsfolk’s headaches, finds them husbands and gets rid of their warts, using a little magic. She hires ‘Big Anthony’ to help her one day. There’s only one rule – never touch her pasta pot. But having seen her casting a spell to make dinner, Anthony cannot resist using it to show off to the townsfolk, with disastrous results. The townsfok want to string him up, as punishment, but Strega Nona comes up with a better plan!
