Bring Me A Book collaborated with Goldman Sachs to organize the “Igniting the Love of Stories” volunteer reading program for underprivileged children. This meaningful and fun program was held at two of our library sites on July 19 and July 26, 2013. We would like to express our gratitude to Goldman Sachs for mobilizing their employees to reach out to a community in need.
Apart from contributing to the community, volunteers also learned some great storytelling tips to make it interactive and fun. Both children and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the session.
Special guest Mr. Jack Chen from Taiwan surprised the children and volunteers with a traditional form of storytelling from Japan called Kamishibai, or “paper theater”.
We look forward to working with more volunteers in the future to spread the joy of reading.
Quote from volunteer:
“On behalf of the Goldman Sachs volunteers, I would like to send you a big thank you for organizing the book reading event! It was a great opportunity for Goldman Sachs employees to contribute to the community we live in. I’m
sure all of us learned some great reading tips from your team! J” Kei Downey
