“Cuddle & Chuckle with Books” campaign. Through exhibition, workshops, talks and educational sessions, we shared the fun and excitement of reading with children and parents.

享受「閱讀.家.樂趣」! Cuddle & Chukle with Books!
The highlight of the campaign was the Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award Touring Exhibition at the Central Library. Generously sponsored by HSBC Private Bank, guests could tour around the fantasy world of storybooks re-constructed by 3-D pop-up displays and learn about the production of a picture book. We also had guided tours and interactive story-telling for the general public, a group of kindergarteners and the residents of the underprivileged districts; children especially loved the arts & crafts session of the exhibition. Most guests coming from the underprivileged districts enjoyed the exhibition and library tours and according to the surveys conducted, 80% of them reported it was their first visit to the Central Library. 3-D display of a Chinese barber shop from “A New Year’s Reunion”

In association with the Summer Reading Month organized by the Hong Kong public library, we held different talks, read-aloud workshops and dynamic educational sessions at the Central Library. Authors, illustrators and parents came to share about children literacy. A talk on childhood literacy was given by Sandra Lee for HSBC employees, while talks (for parents), storytelling and craftsman-making (for children) were held at The Boys and Girls Club Association. We are thrilled the First Teachers Training and Advanced training were well-received and all parents claimed that their knowledge on the importance of reading aloud to children had improved. Meanwhile, children had a great time with the British tutors in lively and dynamic classes. Our campaign was not limited to libraries; we also held talks and book signing sessions at Commercial Press bookstore and at the Hong Kong Book Fair.
